90 runners registered in the Ford's Colony Race in the last week, and we are about to break 300 total participants! We are very excited to announce that for the second year in a row, the 5k has sold out! We honestly would love to take more runners, but the nature of the race course, and the limited parking simply does not allow for us to exceed the limits we have set. The is still space available in the 10k, and the Family Fun Run. Don't wait to register, as those will likely be gone quickly too.
08/27/09 Award Winner Medals Arrived.
At the Ford's Colony Races, we provide custom medals for the overall and age group winners in the 5k and 10k event. We believe in a quality medal that can only be found at our race. We just had our biggest registration weekend ever. We are very excited that one of our local high school cross country teams decided to enter Ford's Colony as a training race. This plus the upcoming price increase has created a flurry of registrations. The 5k is on pace to sell out a week early, and the 10k may also be filled before race day. Don't delay!
08/17/09 Prize "Money" (Gift Certificates) Announced

08/05/09 Shirt Design is Complete
With the 2009 shirt design, we capture various elements from the actual race. If you look closely you will see the race logo, the brochure cover girl, the bird from the Ford's Colony logo, a golfer, and even the gazebo at Ford's Colony. We hoped to create a shirt design that had a different look from most races. Click here to see the mock ups.
07/15/09 Registration is WAY ahead of 2008!
Registration is going great for the Ford's Colony Race. In fact we actually have double the number of race entries that we had on this same date in 2008. At the pace we are seeing right now, we will sell out sooner than expected, so do not delay getting signed up!
06/14/09 Fun Run Course Approved
The Ford's Colony management has approved our proposed course for the Fun Run. This race will offer a slightly longer race option than most traditional "fun runs", as it will be approximately 1.5 miles in total length.
Participants will start at the clubhouse and run down the paths through the first two holes. They will then turn left on the hard packs dirt road for approximately 100 feet before picking up the paths again on hole 17 and 18. Finishers will cross under the same finish line arch as the 5k and 10k runners do. Participants in the Fun Run, should be able to complete the total course in under 25 minutes. This is a 17 minute per mile pace.
05/26/09 Premiums Paid for Speed!
Raleigh Running Outfitters has agreed to offer "Cash" incentives (store gift cards) for premium times in this years Ford's Colony Races. Individuals in each of the following four categories can win a $100 gift card towards any purchase at Raleigh Running Outfitters:
* 5k Men: 1st person to break 17:00
* 5k Women: 1st person to break 19:00
* 10k Men: 1st person to break 37:00
* 10k Women: 1st person to break 41:00
These are aggressive time goals, but can certainly be reached. There will also be gift cards offered to the winners of each age group category as well. Stay tuned for more details on these prizes.
05/18/09 Race Brochures are Ready to Print!
The 2009 race brochures have been designed, and will be printed this week by Eagle Press. The team at Eagle Press has been a loyal supporter of the Rocky Mount Endurance Club, and other local youth athletics. 04/24/09 Family Fun Run Added!
Thanks to a generous grant from RBC Bank, we are pleased to announce that we introduce a new Family Fun Run in this years event. Before the 5k and 10k start, kids and families are encouraged to participate in the new 1.5 mile Fun Run. This un-timed event will allow kids to race like mom and dad and cross under the same finish line arch. All this while earning a special finishers award and getting a kid size race shirt. Parents registered in the 5k and 10k are welcome to jog along with their children. Details on the race course will be coming soon.
